There are no excuses for the choices you make: you choose what you eat, how much, when, and how often, just like you choose whether or not you exercise, how much, and how often. You are the only one responsible for your current weight and level of fitness.

Sounds harsh? If it does that’s great, because if I can help you to get stirred up, think about this, and accept full, personal responsibility for your actions, for your current state of fitness, then it follows that you are the one in control. If you are in control, you are the boss of you, and if you are the boss, you have the power to make the decision to change. Therefore, you can change!

There is great power in accepting that you are the boss of your life, that you are the boss of your success. Since you are the boss of both your thoughts and your actions, you have the power to choose new thoughts and actions. I know it’s not always easy (I’ve had plenty of experience with this!), because when you want to get off of those unhealthy, dead, pre-packaged, processed foods, you probably don’t really want to; they taste good!

Additionally, you might have emotions tied up with food, have addictions to certain foods, and have come to rely on food for things other than fuel for your body.

Changing your lifestyle involves your whole body, mind, and spirit; it’s not as simple as taking a pill or having someone tell you to simply “diet and exercise”. Those are topics for other posts, however if you can start with accepting that you are the boss of your success, that you are responsible for your current state of health, weight, and fitness, then you are well on your way to change.

Remember, if you created what you have today (which you did), this means that you can also create something else, something better. 😉

Being Successful Is A Choice You Make
©2006 by Max Steingart

You alone have the responsibility to shape your life.
Once you understand this,
nothing and no one can deny you success.
There’s no one to stop you but yourself.

More powerful than all the success slogans ever written
is the realization that everyone has but one boss.
That boss is you.

Your life will always be to a large extent what you make of it.
No one can cheat you out of ultimate success but you.

Success or failure?
It’s always your choice.
