You’ve probably heard the advice before to “act as if”. It is suggested that you act as if in order to manifest whatever situation or reality you wish to in your life.

For example, if you want to be promoted into management, start acting as if you already are a manager: arrive to work 15 minutes early, keep your attitude positive, and dress appropriately.

If you want to be more confident in social situations, begin acting as if you have all the confidence in the world, even though inside you are shaking like a leaf.

The same can be said for weight loss and weight management. How would you behave if you were already at your goal weight? Would you overeat, or would you strive to eat consciously, only when you were hungry? Would you remain sedentary, or would you get up and out for a walk or a bike ride? Would you love your body, your level of energy, and your zest for life? Would you love shopping for new clothes, knowing that you could try on anything and look great?

You can begin acting as if you were thin today, right now. Act as if you are thin and listen to your body: are you hungry, or are you eating for other reasons? Can you take 15 or 30 minutes and get in some exercise today? You would likely drink more water if you were already thin; you can act as if and begin doing that today.

You can start loving your body right now (this will help you more than anything), at exactly the weight you are at. “Act as if” you are at your goal weight and you love how you look. Think wonderful thoughts about yourself and feel how proud you are for having reaching your goal weight.

You really can start “acting as if” right now. It can only benefit you, and you don’t have to tell anyone else what you’re doing if it makes you uncomfortable (that you’re “pretending”). The imagination is a powerful tool, and by making use of it and pretending you are thin today, you can act as you would if you were already at your goal.

When you think about it, you want to maintain what you lose, right? If you were at your goal, you would behave in a way that would keep you at your goal weight. Behave as if you were at your goal today, and you will be on your way to manifesting your thin body into reality.
