Here’s something that will help your motivation to lose weight: you don’t have to put the weight back on that you worked so hard to lose!

While it’s true that if you work on resolving the issues that drove you to overeat, binge, or indulge in emotional eating, then you can definitely heal your food and weight issues, I have also found some information based on a study that shows that the actions you take after you lose weight will determine your success in weight maintenance.

The study was conducted on 1,310 adults who had lost at least 10% of their top weight. The results showed that less than half of them regained more than 5% of their body weight over a one year period if they:

1.) Continued exercise regularly.

2.) Spent one hour or less daily watching TV, playing video games, or sitting on the computer (outside of work).

This makes perfect sense, but sometimes it helps to remind yourself of things like this so that you can keep your motivation up during the losing phase. It is definitely possible to take the weight off and maintain that loss for life when you commit to lifelong, healthy lifestyle changes. It’s not always easy, especially if you have become very comfortable with your unhealthy habits, but you can do it if you want to, and if you think you can. 😉
