On Quora I received a request to answer a question about macros low cal or low carb – WHICH Diet Is Best for Fat Loss? I got so excited about receiving a specific request to answer a Quora question that I went ahead and did a live video on Facebook to answer this question from Andrea on Quora!

Macros Low Cal or Low Carb?

The question I received on Quora to personally answer came from Andrea who asked “As a female looking to lose weight and fat is it better to eat a macro focused meal plan, a low calorie plan, or a low carbohydrate meal plan in order to optimize fat loss?” Good question and I appreciate being asked to answer it!

With that being said, if I were coaching Andrea in The Inner Self Diet then I’d find out a lot more information about her personally, and I would especially focus on what caused her to overeat in the first place so that now she is looking for diet solutions to lose weight. Specifically, here’s what I mean: you must heal the root of what drives your emotional eating, binge eating, food addiction or yo-yo dieting in order to fully break free of this problem once and for all. Do THAT and then you won’t need to look for any diet tips or diet solutions in the future, because you won’t be overweight in the future!

Are you getting this? Does it make sense that if the real problem gets fixed then you won’t have the overweight problem anymore?

Does it make sense that the real problem isn’t the food – the real problem is what drives your unhealthy eating behaviors. Fix the real problem and then you won’t have an overweight problem to deal with.

Watch my video at the top of this post for my full reply to Andrea’s question on Quora or for a quick synopsis, here’s what I shared:

  • For the best reply from me, I’d need more information
  • Based on the question only, you could pick one of these 3 options you’re looking at and commit to one of them for the next 12 weeks. See what results you get.
  • You must give it 12 weeks without emotional eating, without binge eating, without self-sabotage, in order to see if your option works for your own body.
  • Why? Because the body needs that amount of time for full physical results of fat loss to show up. (You CAN definitely release one to two pounds of fat per week, but to see significant change you must stick with your option completely for 12 weeks.)
  • Get coaching to heal the root of your unhealthy eating behaviors that caused you to gain weight in the first place. THAT is the real problem that must be fixed, if you want freedom from this problem once and for all.
  • Eat only when physically hungry – stop when physically full.
  • The only kind of physical plan (diet and exercise) I recommend is clean eating with regular cardio and strength training to make up a healthy lifestyle.
  • The physical solution must become a lifestyle and this is not difficult to do once you have a weight loss mindset.
  • Mindset is 92.8% of the weight loss solution if you don’t want to gain the weight back and you want to be free of the struggle.

In the end, mindset is the missing piece to this whole problem of overweight and overeating. Watch My 600 Pound Life to get an example of what a fat mindset will do, vs what a weight loss mindset will do for you. But that’s another story for another day.
